This large and elegant colonial-style house was owned in the 20th century by Luis Ángel Yábar Ordoñez. Born in 1882, he was a politician and geneticist, who gained a local reputation as an eccentric, following experiments in which he created grafts that combined potatoes with tomatoes, pears with apples, quince with apples, and plums with pears. His reputation led to his house becoming known as the “Manicomio azul” (the “Blue Insane Asylum”).
